Pinel-Hauterive
(France)
The village of Pinel-Hauterive
(population 461, 1999) is found in the Lot-et-Garonne department
of Aquitaine.
This small rural town was created
by the merging of two smaller adjacent towns: Pinel, on the
hillside, and Hauterive, in the valley (The old French names
for these places were Notre-Dame-de-Pinel and Sainte-Catherine
de-Hauterive).
The Notre-Dame church surrounded
by its cemetery is located on an outcrop dominating the Lot
valley. Its oldest remains probably date from the 12th century.
